I HATE BRETT FAVRE!

Damnit, I hate Brett Favre! I gotta come clean on this one, especially since everyone seems so ready to suck his proverbial cock. Let me first make these omissions: Brett Farve is very decent at football, I am a Vikings fan, and I enjoyed the hell out of Brett Favre’s Quarterback Club ‘98.

You see, Brett isn’t the great quarterback that everyone thinks. First, let us analyze what it is that everyone likes about ‘ol Favre. I think the general reason everyone gets their panties up in a wad about Favre is the same reason a lot of people voted Bush, he seems like the regular guy that you could have a beer with. If you don’t believe me then watch this Wrangler’s commercial:

Alright, so I couldn’t find it without that retarded song over the top of it. But, looking past the homoerotic nature of the commercial one can clearly see the the image of Favre just, ‘being one of the dudes,’ is clearly played up. The idea that one could just chill and have a beer with Favre is actually very fitting, the guy USED to be an alcoholic.

Alright, so if you cruise on over to Wikipedia they have a pretty solid list of Favre’s accomplishments. Let us look at a couple of ‘em:

Most career passing touchdowns: 425

Most career pass completions: 5,202

Most career pass attempts: 8,497

Most career interceptions thrown by a quarterback: 279

Wow, some pretty impressive stuff. Now, there is one more stat that I think really helps explain how he got those:

Most consecutive starts by a quarterback (NFL): 244

See, the reason Favre has so many damn records is because HE WON’T RETIRE! The reason, I think, Favre has manged to have so many starts is that he is adequate. He might be the best at being adequate in the history of NFL.

What really got me started on this is the douche bag commentators before last nights Monday Night Football. Before the game one commentator went as far to make the disgusting assertion that Favre was an athlete as legendary as Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods. That, my friends, is, of all the current Favre-mania, the most despicable notion yet.

Brett Favre isn’t a highly skilled quarterback in the sense that Peyton Manning or Tom Brady are. Favre has one skill, to plant his feet and then sling the ball at the receiver. Favre can without fail get the ball up in the air, but where it’s going isn’t always up to him. If you watch him play he is constantly getting knocked on his ass right before he gets the throw off. Favre is an old man, how much longer can he go like that? One of these days he is going to get himself hurt with his gunslinger mentality. Knowing Favre though, they would probably wheel him out in a chair to let him throw….Bastard…

If you ever played Brett Favre’s Quarterback Club ‘98 you know that Favre was the most broken player in the game. You could literally run straight down the field as Favre and stiff arm anyone in your way.

Also, it has recently been brought to my attention that I might be the ONLY person in the world who HATES Brett Favre. Dear God, tell me that this isn’t true. Surely there are other’s out there. Aren’t there?

  1. The season long FavRe fellatio continues.

I was at a friend’s house watching the MNF game. When the Packers scored their first touchdown someone in the room asked why the guy who scored the TD didn’t go for the Lambeau Leap?

“Because the game is being played in Denver.”

I understand how someone could be confused. We just sat through 30 minutes of non-stop FavRe talk. Where was the usual mention of the mile high atmosphere? What about the Broncos?

The comparison to Jordan and Tiger was stupid, even for Tony Cornhole-zer.

  2. you guys are dumb, if u dont like brett what ever but the only reasons he has those records is because he wont retire, get your facts right. Dan marino 17 seasons john elway 16 seasons brett 17 season so shut the hell up. so what the hell is the differance between him and the rest. please tell me

    • First of all, don’t call other people “dumb” when you are unable to structure a sentence properly. Ever hear of a capital letter? A period? The difference between a sentence and an incomplete setence?

      Here’s your answer:
Brett Favre was surrounded, suring the better part of his career with talent. With good defensive teams and runningbacks. You see, you shouldn’t look at the amount of seasons, you should look at the balance of the team they were on.
Dan Marino never had a defense in his career. So, his offense was forced to play most of the game without rest. That’s why you saw Marino’s stats look like; 30-46 345 yards 3 t.d.’s. I know you think it should benefit a QB to be able to throw that much in a game, but what you are not realizing is:

*RUNNING GAME. Marino never had a running game. So other teams could t-off at him. Luckily, Marino had the fastest release in league history, which is what saved him from being slaughtered. / Favre usually had a great running game, allowing him to keep the defenses from killing him.

*DEFENSE. Marino never had a defense. Favre was bleassed with great defenses most of his career.

*TIGHT END. Marino never had the great tight end. Also known as the “the third option.” Name how many great tight ends Marino played with. Now name how many great tight ends Favre played with.

*TEAM. Brett Favre played with much, much better teams than Marino ever did.

Look what happened to Elway when the Broncos finally gave him a DEFENSE, a T.E. (Shannon Sharpe) and a RUNNING BACK (Terrell Davis).

If Dan Marino or John Elway got to play on the Packers in the 90’s, each of them would have won AT LEAST 2 Super Bowls, if not 3 or 4.

To prove my point: Brett Favre lead the heavily favored Green Bay Packers into the Super Bowl against the Broncos and Elway. The Broncos were not as strong as the Packers, but Elway, BEING A BETTER QB than Favre, finally had a defense, tight end and RB. And they WON.
If that doesn’t explain it for you, then you are just a die-hard Favre fan, and NOTHING will prove to you that Favre is maybe the 10th best QB ever…. And that’s it.

  3. There’s no diff between them. I’ll hate on Elway and Marino if you want.

  4. I agree, I could bitch about Elway and Marino for the same damn reasons. Consistency doesn’t warrant a player to be classified as legendary…

  5. People voted for Bush because they thought he would stand for something and have the persistence to get the job done. So, I guess your comparison is still valid. Favre has been valued because he will persevere and get the job done. His tough guy image is well-earned.

As you say, it will cost him his career eventually, but he will be able to go out proud of his accomplishments. How many rings does he have?

How do you feel about Cal Ripken? Perseverence: toughing it out, no matter what problems pop up, is a rare quality that should be honored and emulated.

Jordan, on the other hand, had a lot of his “greatness” handed to him by the league and officials. Basketball was in danger, losing popularity, when he came on the scene. The league knew they had to build excitement to drawn the fans back. Superstars were routinely given the green light by refs to stretch or outright violate the rules. I can’t count the number of times I saw him skirt defenders by going outside the baseline and coming back in for an elegant dunk. And his patented silhouette of the spread eagle dunk always came after two or three extra strides. He was great, but he was playing a different sport from the people around him.

  6. This may not be pertinent to Favre per say but I like any opportunity to get under the skin of a Vikings Fan (Check out #1 and #31 in particular….)

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/11/01/fvi.intro/index.html

  7. Well, at least they beat the Jets. My Hawks came in #7, but I haven’t seen a game live since the Kingdome was removed.

  8. How can u not like Brett Favre? The reason he has that many consecutive starts is because he’s a tough QB. He does not go out of the game because of a little injury. He will keep playing until he can’t get the job done. Also he is the best QB in his division and ONE of the BEST OF ALL TIME.

    • Oh come on! He’s not a tough QB. Most NFL QB’s are tough. (Excluding Kim Everett and Brad Johnson of course.) Favre was just lucky. Lucky enough not to substain a serious injury for so many years.

Are you telling me that Rich Gannon was a wimp because he stopped playing after a 350 pound guard almost crushed his head? That Joe Thiesmann was a wimp because he didn’t come back after Lawrence Taylor snapped his led in two?
Brett Favre’s streak of playing is pure and simple LUCK. Many, many NFL QB’s played with bad injuries. Hell, Joe Mantana, who’s about half the size of Favre played with Broken ribs. Warren Moon was crippled half of his career. And how about Joe Namath? The man played his last few games in incredible pain, because his knees were bone on bone!
Not taking away from Favre, but if he suffered ANY of the injuries aforementioned, he would have missed games. And like I’ve said before, if you don’t agree, you’re a die-hard Brett Favre lover who will never see him for what he is….
An old man that needs to retire, and stop thinking that were all counting the seconds until he comes back. I am sick do death of his self-created soap opera. Seems like he’s following the advice of his delusional publicist who has convinced him that the world just can’t live unless the name BRETT FAVRE is in the news every day.

  9. Well I guess you hate him even more after your Vikings stunk it up today. 34-0 is a bad beat down and the first 0 point game for you guys since 1991.

Your complaints about him are similar to a couple coworkers of mine. The say the same things about him but have only seen a handful of games he has played. I, on the other hand, have only missed one game he has ever played as a Packer. He has had to deal with good to decent to poor quality players around him and still found ways to win. He has had troubles in his life outside of football and has come out stronger because of it. I think people should look up to him as a person regardless of what he has or has not done as a player.

As far as being a good player or not? You are crazy to think all you have to do is play for 17 years to break those records. Today he became only the second player to pass for more than 60,000 yards. You get those numbers by being good. You guys have started 14 or so different quarterbacks since he started. Is that because none of them panned out or because Brett has been that good? Nice try, but just because you guys don’t have him on your team doesn’t mean he sucks.

Just one of the many examples of his greatness and toughness happened a couple years ago. The Packers were driving down the field when Brett got hit hard. He was stunned a bit but got back up to the line and threw a perfect pass to the back corner of the endzone for a touchdown. That was the last time he was on the field that day because he had got a concussion from the hard hit. He later said he forgot what the play was when he the ball was hiked. He just improvised his way to a perfect touchdown pass, and then sat on the bench wondering where he was.

  10. Brett Favre is so overrated. The piece of shit won’t retire until he breaks all the records (even the bad ones). It’s obvious this guy is not modest. The last two season were awful for him and the only reason why the packers are doing well this year is because of defense and an easy schedule. I used to have a lot of respect for Favre back in his glory days. Now the fact that he stays in the league to get records is pitiful.

  11. I grew up in Wisconsin, have been a Packer Fan all my life, through thick and thin. Farve in my eyes is one of, if not the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.

My only comment is to all those that hate out there and have so much to run their mouths about; When was the last time you played quarterback in an NFL game?

  12. Do you really think Favres only reason to stay in the league was to break records? If you really do then you’re an idiot. He doesnt give 2 shits about those records that are gonna be broken by peyton manning anyways. He plays because he loves the game and wants to win another super bowl. Period. Steve Young said it best when he said “unless you’ve actually played quarterback in the NFL, you have no idea how unachievable this record is” when talking about Favre’s consecutive starts streak.

“Favre has one skill, to plant his feet and then sling the ball at the receiver.”

Isnt that the entire fucking point of playing Quarterback? Look at his numbers this year. Very comparable to Peyton’s.

  13. All you haters eat it. Favre is poised to break another record. He is only 2 shy of Jim Kelly’s all time playoff interception record. And knowing Favre’s playoff past (2-5 and 14 INTS since 1998), he should secure that record in the first quarter.

I’m just so sick of the negativity on that guy. Just because he shatters Blanda’s interception record and doesn’t win big games, and holds his team hostage, and is completely arrogant, people think they have a free pass to knock him. Knock it off.

    • Oh….shut…up.. I’ve never cared about Brett Farve on way of the other. When he was riduculed in Atlanta, I didn’t care. When he was decreed a God in Green Bay, I didn’t care. BUT NOW, I am sick and tired of hearing about whether or not he’s going to come back another year, after “retiring” AGAIN.

      And I agree with “ThatKid”.
Brett Farve is NOWHERE NEAR one of the best QB’S in the history of the NFL….he’s only played more games.
Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Joe Montana, Steve Young, John Elway, WERE ALL much better QB’S than Brett Farve.
That aside, I’m tired of his soap-opera going on two years now. Will he come back? Will he retire? WHO CARES!!!!
It is obvious to me that Brett, the genius he is, bought into the notion that he is God’s gift to the world and the NFL years ago. Right now, I bet he has no idea that there are people out there (in the real world) who don’t give a shit what he does……but just want him to go away!
Brett, you had a great career. Good for you. Let it go. Stop asking your kids what you should do with your life. You see, real grown-ups, in the real world, don’t ask their children for advice. They make the touch choices on there own. So stop listening to your kids and listen to me. GO AWAY. I’M SICK AND TIRED OF HAVING TO HEAR ABOUT YOU EACH NIGHT ON SPORTS CENTER. And Brett, even if you did join the Vikings and got to hand the ball off to “the best runningback in the league” it wouldn’t matter. You’re going to fall flat on your face by week seven.
Hey, I changed my mind. I now want to see Brett come back….so I can see him fall flat on him face by week seven!

  14. Jackson, if you keep your tongue lodged in your cheek, you might bite it off. Please be careful. :)

  15. I agree. He has won exactly as many superbowls as Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. He was awarded the league MVP the year he was hooked on pain pills. is best buddy, Mark Chumura was arrested (later acquitted) of trying to lay the wood to teen aged girls at a prom party. His comment was he was not the only one at the party. As soon as he made that comment Brett never talked to him and he was cut from the Packers and nobody would even let him try out for a team. Hey Brett, where were you that night?

If I am a family member of his this playoff season I’d head out of town. He tends to have a death around important games.

  16. If you had one game to win, would Favre be your QB of choice? I didn’t think so. He won a super bowl with the leagues best defense and when the defense wasn’t the best, he lost. His start streak is tainted in my opinion. Did everyone forget that he was addicted to drugs, painkillers? How many games did he play feeling nothing at all.

  17. i also hate brett favre

  18. I can’t believe all of the negative comments about Favre. I am not a Packer fan, but how can you try and knock a guy who has had a statistical career that mimicked the other great qb’s. The only difference being that he was able to stay healthy and continue playing at a high level. He did have the 05 season that they went 4-12. But they came back to 8-8 then to 13-3, this past year and ranked in the top 5 passers. Not many other teams or qb’s can say that they only had one season out of 17 that their record dropped below .500 Favre had his good and bad Sundays, but the good far outweighed the bad. I will always be happy to know I was able to watch one of the best ever. Congrats to Favre on his career.

  19. ALL you guys can shut the h*ll up!! Brett Favre is the best quarterback to ever walk this planet. And all you that hate him are just simply JEALOUS!! You really need to get knocked out because you obviously haven’t hit realty. When you just start bashing him….just think what has your quarterback achieved??????????………………………..The answer is NOTHING!
    Now shut up….!!!!!

  20. As for “loudjeff” tough words….I would be careful….What goes around comes around. Are we a little jealous….? And you know I would hope that nothing bad has happened to your family…but how dare you insult Brett Favre’s deaths of close family members. You obviously haven’t loss any close people cause otherwise you would have shut your mouth and never would have posted it. You should respect Favre for what he has done in and with football.

  21. Oh my god, I can’t believe you don’t worship Brett Favre like every announcer and sports writer in the whole world. It’s so great to see him out there, having fun, with his gunslinger attitude, throwing 5 interceptions. He’s Brett Favre, so it’s OK if he throws those interceptions off his back foot, desperately trying to get rid of the ball before the pass rusher reaches him.

Seriously, Brett Favre has had a lot of good years, some very good, and several pretty lousy. He would’ve done a lot better if he had his head screwed on a little straighter and he worked a little harder in the off-season. And Favre just continues to show that he’s not at all a team player. It’s no wonder that with all the adulation, many of us are absolutely sick of it and sick of him.

  22. The Farc would probably kidnap Brett Favre, keep him in isolation for 6 years, and he’d still come back and want to play for the Fudgepackers.

  23. fuck brett favre, he is a cry baby bitch
he has over stayed his welcome in the nfl and needs to step aside for the new generations
i hope someone breaks his knee first game so he can never play again

  24. favre is the best qb ever. the day he stood up to warren sapp and gave him shit was the the watershed moment for QBs. fuck all of you, especially you MIKE. jealousy i so obvious – bitch

  25. ALL YOU GUYS SHUT UP. BRETT FAVRE IS AMAZING . PERIOD, NOTHING ELSE TO IT

  26. [...] Posted by King Emlyn Isn’t Favre an absolute legend in America? I HATE BRETT FAVRE! That Damn Blog Why I ‘hate’ Brett Favre – Shutdown Corner – NFL – Yahoo! Sports [...]

  27. Brett Farve is everything wrong with pro athletes. He thinks he is bigger than the team and can dictate his oepn agenda. He retire, splashes, news stories with a come back. Ohh wow, I care about a dude who won one superbowl. yYes, he won 3 MVP’s and is an iron man, but longevity doesn’t mean greatness or Warren Moon would be a top 3 QB.

Farve was Blessed with great WR and RB. If Farve wasn’t in Something about Mary he would not be as famous. People likr to say Brett Farrr – er – auuhh. And he is an icon. Unreal.

Good but not iconic. Bart Star was more prolific. Farve is second best QB is Green Bay History.

    Secreast Out,

  28. BRETT FAVRE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE BEST!! HE HAS THE RECORD FOR MOST INTERCEPTIONS!! THE ONLY REASON HE HAS MOST TDS AND OTHER SHIT IS CUZ HES A 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN PLAYING IN THE NFL!! HE CANT GO FAR ON A TEAM! HE RUINED THE JETS LAST SEASON THEY DIDNT EVEN GO FAR!! HE SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST PERIOD.

  29. Favre is back! I found this blog because I googled “I hate Brett Favre”

  30. I also googled I hate Brett Favre. Look what website I found. He’s an attention-hogging prick. Shame on ESPN for covering this bull so heavily during a pennant race. The last guys in the world who needs attention is a 39 year old QB who choked away a season a year ago. He’ll have another awful year and that is a very safe assumption. God I hate Brett Favre.

  31. I, like so many others, found this blog because I googled “I hate Brett Favre”. I don’t claim to be an expert, in fact I’ve only been actively following this great sport for a few years. Despite my general lack of knowledge I can see that Brett Favre is the biggest douche in professional football aside from Michael Vick. And that’s saying something.
